Feeling crafty!

It has been a long time since I crafted, this summer has been really busy.  I was in the mood this weekend and I have a lot of extra wood in my garage so I decided to use some up.  I know it's not even Halloween yet but I wanted to get started with Christmas. I love signs of any kind and I had some old pallets. Of course I searched Pinterest and found some great ideas but went with this one.
I love pallets because they are FREE! It only cost me a few cents for the paint which I already had. I love the different colors of the pallets.  If you leave them out side them they get great color on them

CHALKBOARDS
I also love them.  They are easy to make and I use them all over my house.  I have several on my walls for a calendar and grocery list but I love the portable ones.  You can use them year round and are very popular right now. I even use them for pictionary for family night. I made several from old picture frames but this one was made from some old plywood and lath that I bought a big bundle from a garage sale for a $1.00. My husband thought I was crazy but I have almost used up all of it.

This last one I did up for a friend for her Birthday.  I love making things as gifts and I sure hope they do to :)  I will hunt down another board to make myself one also. It just makes you happy!
I added a couple of jingle Bells just for fun.

Painted Fabric

Well I finally did it.  I have been wanting to try painting a chair since I have seen it on Pinterest but just haven't did it yet.  But this week I decided to try it.  I bought this wing back chair a couple of years ago at a garage sale for 25.00.  It was in good shape and it was clean.  I actually bought it for my Dad when he comes to visit because he has a hard time getting up and down off my sofa.  He loves the chair and is very comfortable but the color and pattern just doesn't go with my house. I wanted to move it to my living room so I decided to paint it black.

Don't mind my messy garage but that's the only place I have to work. I decided to use Annie Sloan's chalk paint in Graphite.  Here is after the first coat.

This piece took 4 thin coats and one coat of clear wax to get the end look I wanted.

I love how it turned out.  I painted the legs Annie Sloan old white and I love the contrast of the black and white. It was so much fun to do this piece and I am looking for my next one.
e
I hutch I bought from a friend of mine and I love it.  I painted it the same color as the legs which is Annie Sloan's old white.

The other side of my living room

The rest of the living room.

I have been working on my little boys room because they told me they want to grow up to be cowboys.  I decided to redo their room in a cowboy theme.  They still had the cars theme left over from my 13 year old's room when he was little.  I got these two dressers during the junk weekend for FREE.  Yes Free and I love them.
I used Annie Sloan's chalk paint in Coco and old white.  I bought some metal stars and painted them then attached them with E6000 to the drawers.

I think they turned out great and I can't wait to finish their room.

Here is another bench my sweet husband finished for me.  I got the head board at a garage sale for $1.00.  It cost about 30.00 for the extra wood but I love how it turned out.  Don't know where I am going to put it but I am sure I will find a spot.
I painted it with Annie Sloan's old white and sealed it with her topcoat so I can put it outside also.

Doesn't my husband do a great job!  It's so nice to just tell him want I want and he always delivers it.
Well on to more painting....

New Pieces

The last couple of weeks have been pretty busy with kid things so I haven't got as much accomplished as I have wanted.  I have a Senior that is getting ready to graduate in June so there is a lot to do. And we are still going back and forth to court for our two little foster boys.  This week we finally got a trial date for them in July to terminate rights so hopefully the end is in sight.

This piece was unfinished so I stained it first, sealed it and then painted it with kitchen scale Miss Mustard Seed milk paint.  One of my favorite colors.  I love this piece so much I think I will keep it.  It looks so great in my dinning room in front of the window.

This cute little cupboard I couldn't pass up.  I painted it Annie Sloan French Linen chalk paint and I love the color. It's just so cute and little.

This piece is such a great one.  It's a beverage cabinet and it even had the key.  It has two side trays that pull out that you can use to serve or just use as extra space. Even though I don't drink we make a lot of Italian drinks that I thought would look cute to serve on it.

I had this green chair hanging around for quite awhile but I didn't like the green so I added some white to it and it turned out really cute.  It would look good in a corner or on a front porch.
My husband remembered that our town had trash day coming up on Monday so we went out Saturday night to find some treasures and we picked up this little cutie.
What or what should I do with it.  I wanted to make a dress up cabinet for little girls. So this is what it turn out to be.  I haven't decided if I am going to sell it or keep it for MiaBella my 4 year old.  So if I keep it for her I will put a M on the round empty part.  If not I will stencil dress up on it.

I love this so much!  Every little girls dream is to have her own little dress up cabinet.
Thanks for stopping by.

Kids Dressers

This week I wanted to paint dressers for kids.  I love making over kids rooms.  I know that my own kids love a cute room decorated just for them. I'm surprised I got three done since this week was spring break and I spend a lot of time with my children. But I don't sleep much :)

This first one is so cute for a little girl or baby's room.
I painted a few boxes I got in the trunks I bought a few weeks ago.  The light blue one is so precious with this dresses.

I got the little white Tea set at a garage sale.  I want to keep it for my 4 year old when she gets a little bigger.

I love the color of this pink.  I used Annie Sloan old white and primer red chalk paint.  Two parts white to one part red.  It's so soft and sweet.  It would look good with brown walls.

The next one would be great in a teenagers room.  I got out my cricut to do the numbers.  I don't use it a lot but I sure love it when I do.
I made a few garden stars with extra boards I had around the house.

I love black and white together.  This dresser could go anywhere around the house.  It would be great in the entry to hold mittens, scarfs and hats, I have a dresser that I put all my wrapping  paper in.  I have paper in one drawer, tissue and bags in another, boxes and bows in another.  I actually have dressers all around my house to hide clutter and to keep things organized.  They are not just for bedrooms.

This one is just like the black and white dresser but in blue and light blue.
I borrowed some of my little boys cars decorations because it would look great in a boys room.

I love rope handles.  They are so much fun and give a nautical look to a dresser.

You can see that I finally got to take pictures outside.  We have had a really long cold winter and it's been great to get outside.

Thanks for checking in and I will see you next week.

Busy Busy Busy

This week I have been painting some small things to put in my booth. Here are a few pictures.
I love to pick up magazine racks.  They are so handy all around the house.  Bar stools are fun to put in an empty corner of the house. I always pick up wood bowls because you can use them everywhere.
I made some cute little Easter bowls and pots.  So fun to put on a table for Easter.  They have a grubby eggs in the middle.
I also always pick up trays to paint.  It's great to have them on the bed so it makes it easy for your loved ones to make you breakfast in bed.  Or on a ottoman to put drinks on.
Notice my old wood box.  I keep wood in it all winter long.  We have a wood fireplace and it is the only things I love about New York winters.

Love, Love, Love boxes.  They hide all the clutter and they look so cute.  The stack boxes I numbered 1, 2, 3. The cheese box turned out so good I want to keep it.  I used milk paint on the old bread box and I love how the paint just flakes off in spots.

These two adorable side tables I painted with old white chalk paint and would good anywhere. Living room, bedroom, bathroom where ever you have a empty spot.
